Paris was not what I expected….

We arrived in Paris on the 3rd of December after multiple train rides that took around 7 hours. The train systems are so easy to use and this was something i was very nervous about but I have to be honest it is very relaxing watching the scenery fly past.

We stepped off our train at 4:00pm and had to meet our group at 6:00pm for an amazing night ahead. The traffic was horrendous and our taxi driver just dropped us off in the middle of all these people and had to try and find our hotel while lugging around our luggage, we defiantly looked like tourists. We were staying at the Citadines Les Halles which was $245.00 for the night but the location was so convenient and it was a small apartment style room with a little kitchen.

We quickly got our shit together, i put on some new clothes, fresh make up and we were out the door.

Firstly we had a dinner cruise on the Seine River where you were seated by yourself with your partner/family so you had privacy. I honestly thought we would hop on a fairly average boat to have a normal dinner but I was defiantly wrong about that. The boat was amazing with glass all around so you could see all the sights while having your dinner. The waiters were attentive and impeciably dressed. The river cruise was about and hour and a half which was perfect, seeing everything at night was just that little bit more magical.

We then moved on to the Eiffel Tower, we decided to go to the highest floor which you had to wait in line for on the 2nd floor for about 30 minutes in the freezing cold because it was so windy up there. Once we got up there we had a quick look and went back down, it was way too cold. I enjoyed looking at the Eiffel Tower from afar rather going up it as I feel the beauty in it for me is the way it looks. We were given around an hour and a half which was perfect, however i feel like in peak season you may be rushed and unable to go up to the highest level in that time due to wait times.

It was about 11:00pm when we set off for the Moulin Rouge, I was so cold that when I got into the bus I just fell asleep. I was still feeling jet lagged and we had not stopped since we landed in Europe, it all started to catch up on me so I had a little nap which reset the batteries! We had a bottle of Champagne and sat with two lovely couples, one couple were from San Fransisco which the guy was very successful and did frequent trips to Europe for Business. They love kite surfing and are actually coming to Perth as they had heard its one of the best places to Kite Surf, I also recommended that they scoot on up to Geraldton (my home town) as I’ve heard it is also great for Kite surfing. The night was full of amazing costumes and enough boobs to last you a life time haha! It went from 11:30pm to 1:30am, once it finished I had quiet a lot of energy and I could of almost explored the nightlife but I knew we had a big day ahead as we were setting off to Disneyland for three nights. So I saved my energy and went home and literally fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I booked our tour through Viator and it cost us $750.00 for two people, it may sounds steep but we had such a lovely experience and it was relaxing knowing that you didn’t need to organise to get around to each activity.

We did a small amount of exploring the next day in Paris but we did have limited time. Originally Paris was somewhere I was not looking forward to due to the attacks that had happened over the past year but as soon as I got there I felt so relaxed, the vibe in Paris is just amazing. The buildings are just so elegant, especially the ones we passed on our river cruise. I really did fall in love with Paris and next time I will defiantly stay for longer.

Next stop, Paris Disneyland! A dream come true…..

View from our hotel the next morning.

What Time Is It? Hot Chocolate Time!

Now that we are coming into the colder months of the year, it now becomes the perfect time to be able to justify a hot chocolate (no matter what your diet says). I have learnt recently that you do not make a hot chocolate with boiling water (this is the lazy, less tasty version). How is a hot chocolate best served? In a big mug, with warm milk, topped with whipped cream and marshmallows.

CAUTION

Make this hot chocolate for who ever is with you at the time, no matter what they say! I guarantee you they will end up wanting to try it and end up drinking it all on you!!

What you will need is very simple:

  • Microwave and/or a milk frother
  • Mug
  • Lindt Hot Chocolate
  • Whipped Cream
  • Cute marshmallows
  • Full Cream Milk
  • Cocoa Powder to dust

Easy right?  Of course it is, it’s just a hot chocolate!

Hot choc 2.jpg

  1. Firstly i pour a third of my milk into a cup and microwave for 40 seconds or until warm, if you have a smaller cup reduce the time and vice versa.
  2. While the milk is warming in the microwave, if you have a milk frother you would pour the remaining amount of milk that you would need for your cup into the milk frother. The reason why I use one is because it makes your hot chocolate so much more fluffier and smooth.
  3. Once you milk is finished in the microwave put in 6 heaped teaspoons of Lindt Hot Chocolate flakes and stir so it melts. If your using a hot chocolate powder, I would personally go off the packet directions for how many teaspoons, so you don’t make your hot chocolate too overwhelming.
  4. If you do not have a frother this is when you would put in the remaining milk and put it in the microwave until it heats to your desire. I like my Hot Chocolates warm so I can drink them easily and so it doesn’t melt my whipped cream to quickly!
  5. If you do have a milk frother, pour remaining milk into the mug, if it is still not hot enough you could put it back in the microwave. This however can make the frothy goodness go away!
  6. Stir to combine.
  7. Put your favourite topping such as your whipped cream, marshmallows and cocoa powder on top and indulge in the most amazing, quick hot chocolate ever!

At christmas I would top with cute christmas sprinkles and a candy cane to give it a minty kick and of course it would be in a christmas mug!

I would defiantly recommend the Lindt Hot Chocolate, I don’t think i’ll ever go back to another brand, its very smooth and instead of it being a powder it’s flakes of chocolate. My boyfriend absolutely loves this and he never has hot drinks, so that is defiantly saying something. Also my cat Yoda will not stop starring at me when I bring one of these to bed.

ENJOY!

Five Ideas For a Sunday

I often find myself on a Sunday sleeping in, scrolling through social media constantly or just being plain lazy. I don’t mean laying in bed watching Netflix lazy, I mean to the point where I am so lazy I literally do nothing and then complain when the weekend is over. It’s hard not to lay around when the weather gets cold, so i decided to do a little  list of things you could do next time you can’t be bothered thinking of what to do. This little list is everything I have done on this odd wintery day (the weather really can’t make up its mind today)

Weather

1. Go Shopping for under $50.00

I woke up and decided i wanted to get out of the house, as we are saving for Europe and I’m going to Bali in June, I have being very frugal with my money. I went to Midland gate, bought a coffee and went and bought a few stationary items and a few bits and bobs to set myself up for the day. I find walking around a shopping centre and browsing very relaxing! I bought so much stuff for only $40.00, I was very impressed. I have expensive taste for certain things but others i absolutely love a bargain and can’t go past Kmart without having a looksy.

2. Bake Something

When outside is miserable, i love nothing more then to EAT! Instead of just eating though, maybe you could teach yourself something new, or stick with an old and trusty recipe. Today i decided to make some good old Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream icing. While i was in the shops i bought some cute patty cases for the cupcakes and a Mauve food colouring for the Icing. Baking is something I don’t do often as for myself i find it very time consuming but it is nice every one and a while, plus if your baking all the time it means you have to eat it and I don’t need anything else contributing to my already bad diet! I used my Thermomix for the cupcakes and just some electric beaters for the buttercream icing.

If you have never made buttercream icing i used the recipe Below:

*240g of softened butter

*400g icing sugar (sifted)

*2 tsp of Vanilla Essence

*4 Tbsp of Milk ( i actually forgot to add in the milk, still tasted great !)

Mix the Butter with your electric beaters for about 5 minutes until you get a smooth consistency, you will notice as you go that the butter will lighten in colour.

You then put roughly a 1/3 of the icing sugar and combine the ingredients and keep going until you have combined all of your icing sugar with the butter, then you can add your Vanilla essence and milk and cream until combined. Its then ready to pipe on to your COOLED cupcakes!

Cupcakes are always great to pack for a cheeky snack for your partner (or yourself) or to sit with a cup of tea as your relax throughout your Sunday afternoon.

3.Get Creative

If your feeling creative and feeling that you want to add something extra to a room in your house you could make your own succulent pot. I went to target and came across this really cute ceramic pot for $3.50! Which gave me an idea of adding some plants around the house.  So i made my way to Bunnings and picked myself up 2 succulents, a cacti, a small spade, gloves and some soil. Everything in total cost me $20.00! Its also a fun little idea you can do with your friends, family or partner just to do something different and see what little creations you can make. Next time I’ll be buying a Terrarium for something a bit more fancy looking. You don’t have to do this outside if you have somewhere that you can sit and vacuum the excess dirt after you have finished!

4. Cook A Roast

One of the best things about Winter is all of the hot meal you can cook! Especially a roast. I feel that a lot of people feel that roasts are time consuming but as long as you prep all of your food all you have to do is put your food in the oven at the specific time and you can sit back and relax while it cooks for you and the best part is it warms the house and creates a beautiful smell! The roast vegetables are my favourite and I usually have seasoned Potatoes, Carrots glazed in maple syrup, sweet potato with Ashy Bines’s special seasoning and peas and corn! I know for a lot of people this would not be something you would want to do on a Sunday but i know my family loved to have roasts on a Sunday, so it brings back warm, fuzzy feelings for me!

5. Bath and Movie Time

After a busy day of cooking and creating, there is nothing better then a warm bath with a lush bath bomb! Relax before a week back at work and unwind! After this put on your favourite movie or TV series and be drawn into the story! Try not to touch your phone, I find that these days I don’t enjoy movies or even my favourite tv shows as I am distracted by my phone. I love to sit and watch my favourite shows/movies with my candles lit and my  favourite drink, which is usually english breakfast tea or a hot chocolate (not every night).

Mlovies.jpg

I know some of these sound slightly obvious but i have done the first 3 so far today and have noticed I have hardly touched my phone! I’ve taken a few pictures here and there but that is it and to be honest I’ve really enjoyed my own company. I feel that my day has been filled with more then just endless scrolling through Instagram and I’ve actually done something but still managed to relax.

I’m going to end this here as I now have to finish 4 and 5 of this list! I hope everyone has had a beautiful weekend.

P.S If you have not watched  The Night Before, then do it! It’s a christmas movie and it’s so funny!

Sharnee xoxo
